Monday, January 23, we headed to Canyon Lake to try fishing. Bert is very excited that there are bass in this lake. A gentleman in a small raft had caught three, but said they were small. Lots of cool scenery, but no fish today!

Salt River Area
January 21, 2012 - Fishing! Well, we traveled up Hwy 88 past Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats to the unimaginable 32 miles of dirt road through the Salt River Recreation Area. A good share of the road is single lane with turnouts. It has zigzag road up and down the canyon walls. Since we were in the truck we decided it would be a good time to try this. It was a beautiful drive, but hard to get to the water to fish. The road comes out at the Roosevelt Dam and meets Hwy 188 back toward Globe. We saw some new territory and know where the fishing is not good.
